- Preparing cracked plaster for painting

Dear Shell,

We have a 37- year old house with plaster walls (model home in our neighborhood back 37 yrs.) We plan on painting the whole inside of the house but we have cracks in the plaster. Is there anything you can fill these cracks with that will not come back again? Please help.

Thanks, Rob

Dear Rob,

Cracks are caused from air leakage carrying moisture to the wood frame expanding the wood and hence the cracks. Call 1-800-387-2000 for a free booklet on Air Leakage they will mail it out to you. Wash the walls with Shell Busey's Home Cleaning Formula. Brush Weldbond glue over all the cracks. Fill with lightweight spackle compound. Prime filled areas with Alkyd primer and lightly sand with 220 grit sand paper. Paint finish using Acrylic Latex and or Kitchen & Bath Paint in respected rooms.

It's just that easy.
