Here are some important hints for your vinyl siding project:
Allow for expansion when installing your siding.
* Choose a light colour because it expands less
* Don't set the nails tight. Allow enough tolerance to enable the siding to move within the slotted nail holes.
* Always overlap with seams away from the sight line. The cut edge of the overlap will not be as noticeable if you start at the farthest point from the most common view of the home.
Use lumber trim for outside corners
* Use a "J" trim to butt the siding against the trim. You can paint the corner boards to match the colour of the other trim on your home.
Buy an extra carton of siding for future renovations or to repair damage.
