- Repairing a leaking crawl space wall

Dear Shell,

While in my crawl space today, I noted an old crack that had been repaired and was seeping water. We have had a lot of rain lately and I suspect the ground is quite saturated. The area of the crawl space wall that is leaking is covered by a low deck on the outside of the house and therefore is not readily accessible without removing the deck. Are there any products available that would temporarily repair the seeping from the inside, suspecting that once the winter was over, we would have to remove the deck, check the drain tile, and repair the wall from the outside.

Thanks, Greg

Dear Greg,

Crawl space moisture especially when it is on the walls should be corrected. The rainy months are not the time to dig out and repair. Wait until spring (drier weather) and dig out the foundation wall. Apply peel & stick EPDM rubber membrane over a power washed wall surface bridging the crack. Heating the peel & stick will ensure adhesion.

It's just that easy.
