- Leaking windows |
Dear Shell, We have a leak somewhere around one of our windows. We have tried caulking all around the window but the leak remains. How can we find out where the water comes into our home? Thanks, Jackie Dear Jackie, The best way to locate a leak is to pressurize the room and do an air leakage test. Using your furnace as a positive airflow, close all windows and doors and turn the summer blower fan on in your furnace. Go around windows with a lit incense stick and watch for the smoke to escape around the casings. Where the smoke is escaping around the window locates the area the water is coming in. Apply caulking around the inside of window casing. Stop the air leak, and you stop the water leak as well. It's just that easy. Article courtesy of: Shell Busey |
