- Drying a rain soaked door

Dear Shell,

We were away one weekend when it happened to just pour rain. Our back door just got soaked and now my husband cannot close it without a great deal of force. I cannot even get it closed. Is there a way to speed up the process of drying the door?

Thanks, Linda

Dear Linda,

Remove door and hardware. With an electric or jackplane shave the door on the hinge side as well as the bottom in order for the door to fit with adequate tolerance for closing. Clean the door with my Shell Busey's Home Cleaning Formula and rinse well. Apply finish coat of paint or clear finish to all planed areas especially the bottom where water is drawn up into the door. Add bumper type threshold weather stripping for moisture protection.

It's just that easy.
