- Refinishing cedar |
Dear Shell, I have an old cedar lined chest that needs to be refinished. The exterior is covered with veneer that has faded. I need to strip the old finish off and need to know if this will damage the veneer. Can you recommend a stripper that will not harm the glue under the veneer? Thanks, Vic Dear Vic, Resealing a cedar chest (Tennessee Aromatic Cedar) needs only to be sanded with 120 grit sandpaper. To re-finish mix ½ White Shellac and ½ Methyl Hydrate and apply with paint brush (1 coat only). It's just that easy. Article courtesy of: Shell Busey |
