- Garage door maintenance

Dear Shell,

Should the inside of a garage door be stained? The outside is, but the inside never has been. Also, this is a double wooden paneled door and (whats new) is sagging in the middle. I understand there is some sort of apparatus that can be attached to the door to fix this problem. How about taking the door apart and reinstalling the panels upside down ? (I guess then it would take another 15 years to straighten out).

Thanks, Richard

Dear Richard,

Yes the inside of your door should be painted as well as under the weather-stripping on the bottom. Before staining or painting the inside run a bead of acrylic latex around the panels where they insert into the frame of the door. This stops moisture during the cold months entering the door panels. The apparatus you speak of if called the Sag Eliminator contact Door Pro at 604-597-4040.

It's just that easy.
