- I want to insulate the floor of the sunroom and replace the carpet

I have a 3 season south facing raised sunroom attached to my home. The underneath of the sunroom is enclosed but not insulated. The sunroom is constructed of 2 x 4 studs and 2 x 6 joists. I want to insulate the floor of the sunroom and replace the carpet. What is the best way to accomplish this? I am not sure how tight a seal I will get with the vapour barrier since I will have to go around the joists, also any suggestions on how to keep mice and/or ants from getting into the side insulation?

Dear Richard,

To insulate a sunroom floor consider using Reflectix Insulation. For more information on Reflectix and where you can get it, call 1-800-663-8898 or you might try Krona Insulation (1-800-756-3877). Staple the product to the underside of joists and tape all seams with foil tape. This will be your insulation and vapour barrier. Neither of these products will invite ants or mice.

It's just that easy.
