- Laying a Laminate Floor Over an Uneven Wood Floor |
My house has wooden floorboards, which aren't good enough to finish off, so I'm considering laying laminate wood flooring on top. However the floorboards underneath aren't all as even as they might be, and I'm concerned that heavy items (such as a large aquarium) will place a great deal of strain on certain parts of the new floor if the boards underneath aren't level. What's the procedure for putting down a floating floor on top of uneven floorboards? Thank you, Dave Dear Dave, To level a wood sub-floor to accommodate floating floor system, wash the floor using Shell Busey Home Cleaning Formula and rinse well. After you rinse the floor and while still damp, apply one coat of WeldBond Adhesive mixed with water (3 parts water to 1 part WeldBond). When the adhesive is still a bit tacky, apply a floor-leveling compound available at most flooring stores. Complete by applying foam under-sheet and proceed with the installation of your laminated flooring. It's just that easy. Article courtesy of: Shell Busey |
