- Recent Shower Stall Installation - bubbling and cracks, what went wrong?

Dear Shell,

Had a 4-piece shower stall installed some few months ago. Soon after (week or two) the stall showed signs of bubbling then cracks started to appear. Could this be from the type of glue that was used? I don't know where the stall was purchased or the manufacturer.

Thanks, Ken

Dear Ken,

It would appear from your description the improper adhesive has been used not allowing the 4 piece unit to move when expanding and contracting causing the cracking and blistering. Or, it could be that the unit was installed over plywood or particleboard sub-straight causing the same problem. Consider James Hardie Backer Board for backing material.

It's just that easy.
