- Repairing and refinishing kitchen cupboards

Dear Shell,

I have a 17-year-old home that has kitchen cupboards that have been painted white. They initially looked great but they have recently started to peel and become sticky around the handle areas. They continuously look dirty and when I try to clean them the paint starts to come off. I would like to keep them white. Where should I start my repair and refinishing project?

Thanks, Sharon

Dear Sharon,

Wash the cabinets using my Shell Busey's Home Cleaning Formula (heavy-duty mix). Apply with a pot scrubber pad (Scotch Brite type) then rinse well with clear water. Apply Weldbond full strength on the chipped areas and fill areas around knobs with a lightweight spackling compound (i.e. Dap Fast and Final). Allow to dry and sand lightly if required using 220 grit paper. Prime entire doors using fast dry alkyd primer. Finish project with 2 coats Melamine white paint apply with a foam roller.

It's just that easy
