- Removing rust stains from your concrete driveway |
Dear Shell, I have some major rust stains on my concrete driveway that I would like to remove. This rust dripped down from one of my older vehicles. I read your letter about getting oil out but I'm not sure if it would work for rust. I thought that CLR might work but after reading the label, it wasn't recommended for concrete. Thanks, Brian Dear Brian, DO NOT do this in the heat of the day. First clean the entire concrete driveway using my Shell Busey's Home Cleaning Formula and rinse well. Dampen the area over the rust stain. Apply toilet bowl cleaner available at most hardware stores. Pour onto damp surface full strength and scrub with a patio broom and let sit. Saturate old terry towel in the toilet bowl cleaner and lay on top of the stain for 2-3 hours. Place a plastic sheet over top to stop evaporation. Reverse the process after 2-3 hours and rinse well. Seal the concrete with a solvent-based sealer after 1 week. It's just that easy. Article courtesy of: Shell Busey |
