When cutting a notch in wallboard, use a wallboard saw and make parallel cuts. Score the remaining line with a knife and snap the notched piece backwards.

Cut outs for receptables can be made by rubbing chalk on the edge of the receptacle box. Position the wallboard against the wall and transfer the chalk to the back of the panel. Cut out with jig saw just outside the chalk lines.
